You can use diplexers in pairs to frequency-multiplex a single cable with the dish antenna signal (1-2 GHz range) with OTA antenna signals (sub 850MHz range) and/or any modulated RF NTSC TV signal such as that put out by the 722's TV2. The single input/output of the splitter would go to the cable to your 722, where another splitter would go to the modulated RF output of the 722, and the remote antenna input. The antenna goes on one side of a splitter, and the TV on the other. The small antenna was the way you can extend TV2 farther than the UHF remote can reach. It must have been a splitter in your daughter's room. That was the working output of TV2 from your 722, and it had a diplexer? This cannot be. OK, let's see if I can figure out how your daughter's room worked. I am having difficulty understanding how that hookup could ever work. But perhaps we can't even get it into the HDTV?Īnyway, before I go any further I thought I'd see if there was something inherently wrong with what I'm trying to do! So, is it possible that the splitting of the signal before it goes into the 211k won't work? Or maybe is it because this is indeed an HDTV? My assumption was that we would just not RECEIVE HDTV this way, but that we would be able to get standard def TV over the second tv signal. When the daughter moved, I thought I could just put that "second TV" hookup to use in the same way on our TV, so that when our Mac Mini (which is the media machine in our bedroom) was recording something from the VIP211k, we could watch something from the VIP722k. So, I know that the second TV was at one point working, and we know that the physical cable that is running into our bedroom is good. When we switched to Dish Network, we got the VIP211k for our bedroom, and the 722k for the basement, with the "second TV" going to my daughter's TV. In the past, this was for "cable" and one line went into the cable box, and one directly into the TV - so clear channels could be watched directly on the TV while the DVR was recording the cable, etc. Before it gets the to 211k there is a splitter. We have a cable running into our bedroom for our VIP211k. I've done a lot of playing around with the Modulator settings, and nothing seems to help, so I'm suspecting that I'm trying to do something that doesn't work. I'm usually pretty good with these things, but this is just vexing me! I decided to connect it to the TV in our bedroom. My daughter recently moved out, and so we have the "second tv" from the 722k available for another device.
